I just wanted to upgrade my project to C++Builder XE and found that I can't compile VCLZip there. It seems that unfortunately, Kevin stopped working on the component (I hope everything is ok with him), so I started looking for alternatives. I think that the closest match to VCLZip Pro is ZipForge. It has all the functions that I use (standard ones plus AES encryption) and although it seems slightly slower, it has support for transactions, which is an improvement over VCLZip Pro ( www.componentace.com/zip_component_zip_delphi_zipforge.htm). So, I am purchasing it today. Anyway, VCLZip is good component, but we need support as new IDE versions become available and as it is evident from the forum messages that there are no plans for, I am moving on..

As are most of us! it's a pity Kevin can't be bothered to advise his previously loyal customers (with subscriptions) of his withdrawal of VCLZip support. However, if, of course, he's unable to do so for any reason, fair enough; otherwise, it's unacceptable.

I'm also quite disappointed here. One of the first things I asked when moving to the subscription plan was if there was going to be continued development and more release updates and was assured there would be...
I think ZipForge is a good replacement however, I was trying their AbsoluteDB component (newest version 7.0) and have issues on setting Master/Detail relations in my IDE (D7). Have reported the problem and they asked me to create a demo project, which I did.
I've written again asking if they were able to reproduce the issue and still have heard nothing in about 3 weeks, so support may or may not be lacking (not sure if the same support team works on ZipForge or not). Just a forewarning...
