Could you tell me when the VCLZIP PRO Build 8 will be released? Thanks.

It will actually be 3.04 Build 1 as I have added some new features. I am currently modifying the documentation to reflect the changes. I hope to have it out in about a week or so.
Is there something in particular that you are looking for?

Hi Kevin,
As you are asking mycwcgr if he is looking for something particular, I remind you I'm waiting for an answer to the question I've mailed to you when registering my VCLZip Pro : do you plan to have a CBuilderX version, and if so, when ?
Thanks. Gerard

Sorry, I don't remember that question. What do you mean by a CBuilderX version?

Oh, sorry, I hadn't kept up with the cross platform offerings lately. I had created a Kylix version in the past that I had never released (CLXZip). It just wasn't quite ready for release and then I got busy upgrading VCLZip. I didn't realize until now that CBuilderX was overshadowing Kylix at this point. I will have to look into that possibility. So the answer is, no I have not planned such a thing but that doesn't mean that I won't. But ofcourse there is no date that I can tell you either.

BTW, do you have CBuilderX already? What is your opinion of it? Is it/will it be an improvement over CLX and the direction Borland WAS going? I see a lot of differing opinions in the newsgroups.
And from what I hear, CBuilderX does not ship yet with a visual editor? Is that right?

Hi Kevin,
I'm sorry for the delay I've taken to reply to you.
I've attended last week Borland Conference 2003 in Paris. People from Borland told me that BCB6 won't have any following like BCB7/Windows or the equivalent for Kylix/Linux, but rather BCBX (Borland C++BuilderX, with an X for "cross platform", nor for "ten" like in JBuilderX !), in which you can produce code compatible with a lot of compilers and a lot of platforms without any transformation from one compiler to another and then form one platform to another (Windows, Solaris, Linux, ...). I don't know much more, but I'll soon begin to study BCBX to make up my mind about migration of my sources. If so, I'll need of course migration of components added to my EDI (like your VCLZip pro), because I suppose that nothing equivalent is delivered with the new EDI.

I guess I'll keep a close eye on it too. Now we have to worry about two different directions with .NET and X.
